Dental Implant is a titanium small screw or cylinder which looks like a thin metal rod. Dental Implants use as replacement the root of a tooth and is able to support a single, multiple teeth or the denture. These dental implants can fuse with the bone of the jaw via a healing process called ‘osseointegration’.
Once a suitable period of time has elapsed to allow healing, you will be ready for the placement of your replacement tooth/teeth or restoration. Dental implants need two phases of treatment, first phase to put body of implant into your bone, then we need to wait at least 2 months until your bone has connection or bond with your dental implants, after that we can do the second phase to connect the crown on top of dental implant body.
It is possible to finish dental implant in one trip but we need to select the case carefully. Because to do implant surgery we need to see at least your jaw bone in both quality and quantity and other organs as well.
There are many different brands of dental implant such as Nobel Biocare, Intra-Lock and Straumann. As with any industry, marketing plays a big part and all these brands have their advantages and disadvantages.
And then we have newcomers such as Intra-Lock. You will find that your dentist will have his or her favourite type of brand.
